Returning NMI Students
Dear Northeast Maritime Institute Students and their Families,
In an effort to help bring down the cost of college tuition, I have been hired to serve as a Scholarship Coach to NMI students. There are numerous benefits to applying for scholarships and with my guidance you will be able to select from a variety of them and submit the best applications possible.
By participating in the program, you will receive free mentoring during your two years at NMI, help with scholarship searches, and proofreading of all applications. Applying for scholarships can seem like a daunting process, but with the system I use, after the initial set up, it really becomes more of an assembly line, and you will quickly see just how easy it is.
Scholarship money is often underutilized. I’m here to help match you with the best programs available, which are sometimes based on you and/or your family’s background and interests. I’d like you to fill out the questionnaire I’ve developed with your family’s assistance if possible, even if that means doing it over the phone or internet.
You will note that many of the questions are very personal, asking about your heritage, religion, events that have affected you personally, hobbies and organizations with which you are affiliated. The reason for this is that scholarships can be very specific and often are looking for students who meet a very specific criteria.
Since I’m going to be asking a lot about you, here’s little bit about me. I’m a seventh generation Southport Island, Maine native, I’m married and have two sons. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a Minor in Behavioral Science with Honors from the University of Maine at Augusta, and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University. I work in the court system as a Legal Advocate for victims of domestic violence, and in my spare time, I’m a researcher and a writer. I have run my own publishing business, Cozy Harbor Press, Inc. for over twenty years, specializing in recording Maine Veterans’ histories and promoting Maine writing and artists.
My family actively pursued scholarship opportunities during the two years my son was at NMI and the savings were well worth the effort, as my son is going to graduate debt free. If you could even save $1,000 on your tuition payments, wouldn’t it be worth it? I hope you’ll consider this unique opportunity and I look forward to working with you and your family in the future.
